Don't forget the fun
I hate when writers ruin writing.
They sometimes do this by talking about how miserable writing can be. They focus on the frustration of not being able to find the right words. Or the hopelessness of a page that stays blank no matter how much you stare at it.
They forget to mention the rush that comes when all the right words fall into place. The thrill of filling page after page without effort. The desired flow state.
The joy you feel when someone else laughs out loud at all your jokes. The connection you share with someone who relates to your most vulnerable moments.
All those moments are great.
And they're fun. So much fun.
Don't forget what you're chasing when you choose to write.
Don't forget the fun.
